Chillest Game of 2019
On part three of the Best of 2019 Awards, we had a category dedicated to the hardest, most challenging games that released in the calendar year. We thought it was only appropriate to shed some light on the more relaxing, cathartic games we played in 2019. Most of the games on this list of nominees didn’t actually come out in 2019, but we found ourselves spending a ton of time with them. Instead of picking a winner and a runner-up, we simply present these games as a list of recommendations. Even if they’re not considered “easy” in terms of difficulty, these were the games we played to help us kick back and relax a bit.
Nominees:
- Sega Heroes (Mobile)
- Match Land (Mobile)
- Stardew Valley (All Major Consoles)

Best Video Game Music of 2019
Often disregarded or muted in favor of party chat options, the music in video games rarely gets the recognition it deserves. Whether an original score or a combination of licensed music, the tunes we hear while gaming play a big part in forming the overall experience. As such, this is a category you really need to hear rather than read. On the episode, our Best Music segment is fully scored with music from our nominees, resulting in a 10-minute breakdown of 2019’s greatest gaming tunes.
Nominees:
- Far Cry New Dawn (XB1, PS4, PC)
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (XB1, PS4, PC)

Best Narrative of 2019
While we love competing in multiplayer battles or tapping to the beat in rhythm games, a quality narrative is one of the quickest ways to our hearts. This category is always exceptionally tough, as we navigate the many great tales told throughout 2019’s games. We met some amazing characters, traveled to beautiful new worlds, and got lost in some incredibly wild stories. Regardless of the quality of gameplay, these nominees had outstanding stories that managed to capture our imaginations and emotions. This category is saved for the end of the episode, due to the inclusion of spoilers in our discussion.
Nominees:
- Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (XB1, PS4, PC)
- Mortal Kombat 11 (All Major Consoles)
- Kingdom Hearts III (PS4, XB1)
- Days Gone (PS4)
- Outer Wilds (XB1, PS4, PC)

- The Outer Worlds (XB1, PS4, PC)
- Death Stranding (PS4)
Game of the Year
This is the big one, the category to end all other categories. Although many games released in 2019, only one can be crowned as our favorite. Ultimately, we try to choose a winner and runner-up that represents Super Gamecast 64 during that year. A game that all of us can recommend in earnest and reflects our tastes in 2019. This list of nominees is as long as it is filled with quality, so we can easily recommend any of the games below. While each host of the show has their own list of the top three games they enjoyed in 2019, only one could walk away as the GOTY winner.

- Resident Evil 2 (XB1, PS4, PC)
